Nature Photography Meetup

Saturday 17 May
Fletcher Avenue - 8am - 2 Hours
Juan Manuel Barrero Bueno
Join this session for tips on how to use your camera settings to creatively capture nature in a visually interesting way. We will be looking at composition, focus, and colour.

Many professional offices and places of business have large prints gracing their wall space of things such as fields of flowers, a butterfly perched on a leaf, and a single dew drop on a rose petal. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. We will learn how to use different angles, light and shadows, and settings to make subjects pop.

Recently got back into photography and have been interested in learning how to do long exposure. I live very close to this location and when I saw the weather conditions I thought it would be a great opportunity to practice. I was actually really pleased with this particular shot. Unfortunately the pier is closed off due to damage from the past hurricanes. There are more opportunities at this location once it?s repaired.

This was on a tour of Upper Antelope Canyon on 7/26/2023. I was using Sony a7IV and 24-70 f/2.8 GMii lens. Lighting conditions, as you?re essentially underground but with slits through the rock to the sky above, are pretty challenging, so I was using a 9-shot bracketing in 2/3 stop increments. We did a tour of both upper and lower antelope canyon that day, so with the bracketing, I took well over 2,000 shots. So I have been procrastinating editing these photos for quite some time. But I finally

Once a month, or so, I would go into my home town of Leicester early on a Sunday morning to take some photos before there were too many people around. This particular morning there was light rain and the sun was trying to break through. The scene was great but the sky was uninspiring so a better sky was added and then processed in DXO's NIK Silver Efex. The camera was my trusty Ricoh GRIII which has a great lens and small enough to put in your pocket.
