We have a different photo theme bimontly and the two hour sessions take place in different outdoor locations around Tampa. It's a great opportunity to try something new with the guidance of a professional photographer, and come away with some new shots for your portfolio or album.

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from amateurs to professionals. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

Complete beginner? Please complete a Beginners Photography Class before attending a regular group session. This is a 3 hour structured workshop where you’ll learn the basics of using your camera with more 1-on-1 time with the instructor. Scroll down for dates.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

What’s involved? Each session starts with an introduction to the theme, and the photography instructor will chat about the camera settings and techniques to use. You’ll then have time to take lots of photos, with the instructor present to answer any questions. You’ll receive feedback and have a chance to chat with everyone to share tips and ideas. We’re a social bunch!

After group editing session. After each group the instructor runs an optional 1.5 hour critique, select, and edit session to help you improve your important post-shoot skills. While much editing can be done on modern cameras, it's best to bring a tablet or laptop with editing software to get the most out of this session. Select this option when booking to attend.

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Focusing on the Foreground - Lettuce Lake Park - 9am - 2 hours
In a well composed photograph, one of the key components is a strategically placed element in the foreground. One key advantage to using prominent foregrounds is that it gives the viewer a sense of being there, that one could walk right into the scene. A great foreground will introduce you to a scene, and help the image to come alive. You will learn how to get the whole picture in focus? How do you add depth to a photo? Where do you focus to take a picture? Plus so much more. Join this session for tips on how to use your camera settings to creatively capture available light portraits. in a visually interesting way. We’ll be looking at composition, focus, posing and correct lighting. This location enables you to capture some beautiful portraits in a stunning location. Please bring one family member or a friend to photograph on the day. Please note that we can only allow one additional person to attend due to the number restrictions we have at this event.

This was a great opportunity to ask questions and get some one to one feed back. It was small enough to feel comfortable no matter what level you are at. Awesome information was given.

I have been trying to get into this class for a couple months but between my schedule and it being full at times I havent been able to attend. I didnt go in completly new as I had taken a previous photography class elsewhere. Even though i knew the ocncepts Sarah explained aperture in a different way than what I was taught and her explanation definetly stuck with me alot better. Lastly when we went to the practical portion of the class it took her less than 10 minutes to explain my camera to me than what I learned over the previous 8 months. That alone was worth the price of admission in my book and Im back to shooting again.

This was great for me to get a basic understanding of the exposure triangle (triad). Sarah does a great job simplifying very complicated subjects so that a layperson can understand them. This is my second workshop with her and I will definitely do more of them in the future.

A great morning. A nice balance of an organized workshop with specific skills to learn or work on. Yet time and space to freely experiment with the skill. Also a very nice outdoor park setting. Thank you!!
