We have a different photo theme bimontly and the two hour sessions take place in different outdoor locations around Tampa. It's a great opportunity to try something new with the guidance of a professional photographer, and come away with some new shots for your portfolio or album.

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from amateurs to professionals. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

Complete beginner? Please complete a Beginners Photography Class before attending a regular group session. This is a 3 hour structured workshop where you’ll learn the basics of using your camera with more 1-on-1 time with the instructor. Scroll down for dates.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

What’s involved? Each session starts with an introduction to the theme, and the photography instructor will chat about the camera settings and techniques to use. You’ll then have time to take lots of photos, with the instructor present to answer any questions. You’ll receive feedback and have a chance to chat with everyone to share tips and ideas. We’re a social bunch!

After group editing session. After each group the instructor runs an optional 1.5 hour critique, select, and edit session to help you improve your important post-shoot skills. While much editing can be done on modern cameras, it's best to bring a tablet or laptop with editing software to get the most out of this session. Select this option when booking to attend.

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

I love seeing new locations I was unaware of before so this was great. Sarah was great as usual and I enjoy the challenges she presents to us.

A great morning. A nice balance of an organized workshop with specific skills to learn or work on. Yet time and space to freely experiment with the skill. Also a very nice outdoor park setting. Thank you!!

Patterns in Photography - Henry B. Plant Museum - 9am-11am
The Tampa Photography Group outing on Saturday 15th June will be hosted by Sarah Putnam , with the theme of Patterns in Photography. We will be visiting Hyde Park Village. Patterns surround us in both natural and manmade forms, offering photographers great opportunities for dramatic and eye catching shots. Using pattern is key to good composition and, when used effectively, can transform an otherwise bland image into something dramatic and eye catching. Patterns in photography create attention. ... Recognizing patterns is a composition technique that creates a stronger image. Shapes and lines are composition techniques as well. Patterns take them to a new level by repeating those shapes and lines. Book in to join the instructor after the group for a 1.5 hour critique, select, and edit session where you can develop your post shoot skills. Bring your tablet or laptop. Having a professional photographer on our critique sessions will help move your photography to a higher level. Your photos will be evaluated along with a lot of encouragement. You will have a better understanding of the larger “picture” improving your skills as a photographer
