Nature Photography - USF Botanical Gardens - 9am - 2 hours
Many professional offices and places of business have large prints gracing their wall space of things such as fields of flowers, a butterfly perched on a leaf, a single dewdrop on a rose petal. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it, but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. The botanical gardens should make it fairly easy to find things worthy of photographing so that we can learn how to use different angles, light and shadows, and settings to make them pop!

We have a different photo theme bimontly and the two hour sessions take place in different outdoor locations around Tampa. It's a great opportunity to try something new with the guidance of a professional photographer, and come away with some new shots for your portfolio or album.

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from amateurs to professionals. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

Complete beginner? Please complete a Beginners Photography Class before attending a regular group session. This is a 3 hour structured workshop where you’ll learn the basics of using your camera with more 1-on-1 time with the instructor. Scroll down for dates.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

What’s involved? Each session starts with an introduction to the theme, and the photography instructor will chat about the camera settings and techniques to use. You’ll then have time to take lots of photos, with the instructor present to answer any questions. You’ll receive feedback and have a chance to chat with everyone to share tips and ideas. We’re a social bunch!

After group editing session. After each group the instructor runs an optional 1.5 hour critique, select, and edit session to help you improve your important post-shoot skills. While much editing can be done on modern cameras, it's best to bring a tablet or laptop with editing software to get the most out of this session. Select this option when booking to attend.

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Tampa Photography Facebook Group to share your photos after the session.
We ask that everyone attending a meetup follows social distancing guidelines:

Stay home if you're sick.
Keep 6 feet away from others.
Don't make unnecessary physical contact with others. Avoid physical greetings, such as handshakes, hugs and kisses.
Wash your hands regularly with alcohol-based sanitiser.
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Use a flexed elbow or a tissue.

It was very informative. Jake did a very nice job. The beach setting might be better at sunset. It was a beautiful beach but a park might have been a better choice. Still well worth it

I have been trying to get into this class for a couple months but between my schedule and it being full at times I havent been able to attend. I didnt go in completly new as I had taken a previous photography class elsewhere. Even though i knew the ocncepts Sarah explained aperture in a different way than what I was taught and her explanation definetly stuck with me alot better. Lastly when we went to the practical portion of the class it took her less than 10 minutes to explain my camera to me than what I learned over the previous 8 months. That alone was worth the price of admission in my book and Im back to shooting again.

This was great for me to get a basic understanding of the exposure triangle (triad). Sarah does a great job simplifying very complicated subjects so that a layperson can understand them. This is my second workshop with her and I will definitely do more of them in the future.
